HENkaku ——the first Native Homebrew ENabler for PS Vita have released just now

Good news! Today, after the last couple of months hard working, develp molecule bring an easy-to-use homebrew solution , is it HENkaku, the first HEN for the Vita. This tool will let you run homebrews (including emulators) on any PS Vita running firmware 3.60.

What is HENkaku?
HENkaku simply lets you install homebrew as bubbles in LiveArea. It is a native hack that disables the filesystem sandbox. It installs molecularShell, a fork of VitaShell that lets you access the memory card over FTP and install homebrew packages (which we create as VPK files). With vita-toolchain, developers have access to the same system features licensed developers have access to as well as undocumented features that licensed developers cannot use (including overclocking the processors).

HENkaku is the first ever homebrew enabler for PS Vita and PSTV. It is akin to jailbreaking your iPhone or rooting your Android device. Homebrew are games and other software not officially approved. For example, VitaDoom is a port of the classic game DOOM and mGBA lets you play Game Boy Advance ROMs. You can find more examples in the showcase.
Best of all, HENkaku is 100% free. No cost. No ads. No “donations”.

Where to get it?
Visit HENkaku official site from the built-in web browser on your PS Vita and press the “Install” button to install HENkaku. You must do this every time you reboot the console–that is, every time you turn the console off and on again.
Requirements

  • Vita on firmware 3.60
  • Internet connection
  • FTP client on your PC
  • Memory card

It is important that you never update your Vita past 3.60 if you ever wish to use HENkaku now or in the future. If you do update, all your installed homebrew will no longer work and you cannot install any homebrew in the future.

How to install HENkaku?
The first time you install HENkaku, a new bubble named “shell” will show up in LiveArea. This application allows you to install other homebrew bubbles. However, once you reboot the device, molecularShell and any other homebrew bubbles you installed will not be able to be launched until you run the installer again.

  • Make sure your Vita is running firmware 3.60
  • Open the Web Browser application and visit https://henkaku.xyz
  • Press the “Install” button
  • You will get a “Welcome to HENkaku” message. Press “OK”
  • Once the installation is complete, the browser will be closed automatically
  • Press the home/PS button and close the browser manually. Installation should be successful.

NOTE: It will only support firmware 3.60, so feel free to update to it now in preparation. Do not update past 3.60, the current firmware at the time of this writing.
